Have you tried working on something, a project or assignment perhaps but suddenly you run out of a creative idea as if your mind refuses to spew out something different or something new? That the right side of your brain has stopped functioning so to speak, and drained out of creativity? If you work as an advertiser or marketer, a writer, professor, teacher, parent, student or any social strata you belong, creativity could spell a difference to your work and profession. What could help you boost your creativity?
The seed of creative idea germinates in a soil conducive to creativity. If you are working in an organization the workplace’s physical and social environment, the structure, the culture, the commitment of the administration to creativity contribute much on being a creative person. But to help you unlock your creative potentials on your own, the following processes can be applied.
Self-reflection. Creative idea burgeons from creative minds. If you think creativity is self-perpetuating, you are definitely erroneous. A careful examination of yourself, your thoughts, behavior, beliefs, and circumstances could fire up new ideas. You should deliberately schedule and value a time for solitude. Self-reflect on what have you done so far and the things that you want to do but haven’t had a chance to try and accomplish. Try to relish your achievements and put structure on your unarticulated desires.
Continuous learning and change. Even PhDs, having conferred on them the highest level of university degree, should not cease in the acquisition of knowledge. Learning is one among other few things that is timeless, endless. Where can you get valuable information that could make creativity to spark? Learn from the people you get along with. You might be surprised of what you are needing lies in the people you sometimes tend to ignore. So do not be confined within your office cubicle, try to talk with people. Even your acquaintances could give you the most unexpected ideas with a light bulb overhead during coffee breaks. While learning from different people, learn as well in welcoming change into your life. Small changes could bring great impact to your creative minds.
Keep things simple and non-routine. Keep processes in your work simple as possible. Simple things are more enjoyable. Simplify your lifestyles and work habits. Aside from simplicity, why not do something new. Try new things. If you’re riding in a bus or driving your car for work why not try the other routes. Be careful you might get lost. Or why not eat new foods, dine in new a restaurant, or cook new cuisines, read new books or magazines. Do something weird or unusual. But be careful not to overdo you might suffer from identity crisis.
Set Settings. To stimulate creativity settings must be changed too. The design, arrangement, color, ambience of the workplace could be altered a little. Or find time to spend the weekends in a cabin or in a resort away from city life. Have a very creative day!
